When can I write?

You can log in and write anytime you want to, day or night. Some people set aside certain hours in the day or week to write, and others do it when they find extra time. Choose whichever approach is best for you.

Can I expect WritersDomain to offer enough work to provide my sole livable income?

The original vision of WritersDomain was to act as a means of supplemental income for people who wanted to earn extra money by writing from home in their spare time.

While some writers have been able to make considerable and relatively constant income from WritersDomain, the work is still considered contract work, with no guarantee that contractors will always find work available. Work with WritersDomain is not designed to be a replacement for a full-time job.

That being said, we absolutely appreciate the support and great following that WritersDomain has gained from hard workers.

Registration

Why is my address required?

We ask for your address to verify that you are a resident of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, or New Zealand so that the tax and legal requirements all work out. If you are a US citizen or resident, you will also be asked to upload a W-9 form in order to be paid for your work.

Can I register if I am not from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, or New Zealand?

We hire only writers from the countries in which we do business or have clients—that is, in the US, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. We are currently not able to hire writers from outside those countries.

It is the responsibility of the writer/registrant to provide WritersDomain with correct information regarding their citizenship or residential status. The writer/registrant assumes any and all responsibility for fraudulent information submitted to WritersDomain.

What is the minimum age requirement?

You must be at least 18 years old in order to register for WritersDomain.

Writing Sample and Grammar Test

What are the requirements for a writing sample?

The writing sample needs to be at least 400 words long. Your sample will be reviewed by our editors, and you will receive an email regarding your acceptance or rejection. Make sure you proofread and edit your sample submission: it’s the basis of our impressions of your writing abilities.

We want to see what you'll come up with on the spot, so your submission needs to be completely original. Please do not submit a sample that borrows from another source, even if you are the author of that source. Plagiarized writing samples will be rejected.

Keep in mind that we will expect you to maintain high-quality writing standards for each project. Please don't submit a stellar writing sample and then deliver sub-par work after you've been accepted to write.

How long is the wait time if I am on the waitlist?

The waitlist time varies, as we bring on new writers based on demand and writer turnover. We bring new writers on when we have room, generally in the order in which we approved writing samples.

How long until my writing sample is reviewed?

We typically review your writing sample in 2–3 business days. We'll let you know if you've been approved as soon as we review your application.

What happens if my application is rejected?

If your application is rejected, don't take it personally. We're just looking for a style that better fits our clients’ needs.

If you feel that, with a bit of work, you can tailor your writing to our standards, then you are welcome to reapply in six months.

I failed the grammar test. What do I do now?

If you do not pass the grammar test, you may reapply to WritersDomain in six months.
